# Delete Rendition

Delete one rendition from a VOD while keeping the VOD and remaining renditions.

Delete one rendition from a VOD while keeping the VOD itself and the remaining renditions.

Use [Lookup Video](https://docs.dacast.com/reference/lookup-video) first to get the available `renditions` and choose the `renditionId` you want to remove.

## Path parameters

| Name          | Type          | Description                                                     |
| ------------- | ------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `id`          | string (UUID) | **Required.** The VOD identifier.                               |
| `renditionId` | string (UUID) | **Required.** The rendition identifier from `GET /v2/vod/{id}`. |

## Response

| Code    | Meaning                                         |
| ------- | ----------------------------------------------- |
| **204** | Rendition delete accepted. No body is returned. |
| **404** | The VOD or rendition was not found.             |

> ⚠️ Deletion is not always reflected immediately in `GET /v2/vod/{id}`. In testing, the API returned **204** first, and the deleted rendition disappeared from lookup only after a short delay.
>
> ⚠️ Dashboard/storage usage can also lag behind the delete. For bulk deletion workflows, a short delay between deletes can help the dashboard catch up.
>
> ⚠️ If you delete **all** renditions, `GET /v2/vod/{id}` may later return `renditions: null` and empty playback URLs (`hls`, `hds`).
>
> ⚠️ If the source has already been deleted, removing all remaining renditions can leave the VOD without playback URLs, and previously embedded players or previously obtained playback links can stop playing. If your goal is to remove the entire asset, use [Delete Video](https://docs.dacast.com/reference/delete-video) instead of deleting source and renditions separately.
